The Company:
CHIAVETTA was founded in 1972 by Giovanni Chiavetta that, thanks to considerable experience in the field of road transport, has provided answers and innovative solutions to a variety of technical and production problems related to transport activities.
Initially, the production activities of the Company was directed to the construction of cells and vans for industrial trucks and preparation of the lorries by applying the third axis with elongation or shortening of the chassis. In particular, CHIAVETTA was among the first in Italy to introduce the technique of "cold nailing" to exchange the wheelbase of the chassis without making any cut of it. Furthermore several innovative solutions were produced (some patented) that have received international recognition (Torino 1979, Turin 1981).
The expansion of rail-road combined transport, the welcome received on the domestic market, the high degree of production flexibility suitable to provide special solutions to complex problems and needs of the end user, are the factors that led CHIAVETTA to address its facilities and resources so prevalent on the production and marketing of products for intermodal transport.
Today CHIAVETTA is among the producers reference regarding the design and manufacture of Special Containers and Trailers for intermodal transport. Among the many awards achieved over the years, we include:
● 1996 - Award "Builders in the Limelight", awarded at the launch of Isothermal and Cooling Swap Body for transport under controlled temperature regime also for the field of the intermodal sector.
● 2000 - Award "Builders in the Limelight", awarded at the launch of the Special 45'/13600 mm Swap Body to transport Coils.

General Activity:
CHIAVETTA is an engineering company that operates in the market for production equipment and industrial vehicles for the transport of goods in general and particularly for Road-Rail-Sea intermodal transport. The activity is centred on the following main lines of production:
● Industrial Body: Special Features.
● Containers: UIC, CEN and ISO Containers and Swap Bodies.
● Trailers and Semitrailers: Road, Intermodal, Fixed Container Carrying, Tipping Container Carrying, Heavy Transportations.
● Discharging Systems: Motor Compressor Systems (Diesel or Electric) and Rotary Valve System for the discharge of granular products, bulk powder, Tipping Platforms for Containers.
All activities related to the production (design, prototypes, testing prototypes and products testing, manufacturing, marketing and consulting) are carried out within the Organization with its plant, machinery and equipment and the exclusive cooperation of its employees.
The layout of production, based on the maximum degree of flexibility of processes, can meet any particular requirement of Customers through the study and implementation of "mini-series" of products with particular devices and customizations to the smallest detail.
The overall activity of the Organization (from the Customer Agreement and until After-Sale Assistance) is subject to a continuous, rigorous and meticulous quality control. The system is divided into three complementary areas:
● Quality.
● Safety.
● Environment.
The Organization is holding special technical solutions (derived from internal research and development sector) covered by International Patent.

Production Process:
The new and innovative production techniques (always adapted to the continuous technological progress) and the highest quality raw materials, providing an advanced end product having high durability and resistance in all conditions of use.
The inception phase, design and structural calculations are based on CAD/CAM modern computerized system and on a fast machines system for printing drawings. All structural calculation data are processed and verified by the finite element method analysis (FEM), using known and reliable software ANSYS.
All sub-processes of cutting and bending, welding, shot blasting and finishing products are made by automated (robotic lines) or numeric control plants and machines. The plants most significant involving the basic processes for the production are:
● Sheet pressing plant. Composed of three numeric control presses for the preparation of components for the assembly of basic structures, superstructure and additional components.
● Plasma cutting system. Composed of two computer controlled systems cutting sheets up to 14 meters in length, up to 3 meters in width and up to 18 mm in thickness.
● Robotic welding system for chassis. Consisting of a "portal" sliding on rails with two "5-axis" Kawasaki robots . Used the welding of the frames of Containers and Trailers/Semitrailers.
● Robotic welding system for structures. Consisting of a "bump" sliding rail suspended system with "7-axis" Kawasaki robot with auto-correction laser tracking system. Used for welding of the entire structures of the Containers.
● Robotic welding system for walls. Consisting of a 20 meters long system equipped with a sliding sheet metal panels device and with an "in line" remote controlled welding machine. Used for welding of the side walls of the Vans Structures.
● Robotic welding system for components. Consisting of a "island" system with double workspace and with a "7-axis" Kawasaki robot. Used for welding of parts for obtaining pre-assembled components.
● Basis treatment plant. Automatic cabin for metal shot-blasting of the assembled structures to prepare the subsequent paint operations.
● Final treatment plant. Consisting of two heated cabins each 20 meters long, with paint-lift and integrated recovery of harmful dust.
